You don't need to be a political insider to have a say in your city. Here's everything a first-time voter needs to know to cast a ballot on October 17, 2026.
These are the rules for the 2026 general local elections.
If you're registering when you vote (most first-timers will), you'll need to prove who you are and where you live. Easiest path first:
No document proving your address? You can sign a solemn declaration at the voting place. No one eligible is turned away for paperwork alone.
Polling places and hours are set by the City of Port Coquitlam's Chief Election Officer. We'll post the confirmed list here as soon as the City releases it. Check back closer to October.
For the legally binding details, these are the people who run the election.
